Tom AreyTom Arey grew up in a musical family (his grandfather, uncle and father all had played drums professionally) and began playing drums at an early age. He studied through high school with Art Peretta, who was a very well respected teacher, author and performer in CT. Tom then received a scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music. During his time at Berklee he was co-founder for the regional act, Uncle Sammy, an original group, which toured extensively all over the east coast performing mostly original fusion, progressive rock and funk music. Soon after that he was recruited to tour nationally with Global Funk, a west coast all-star funk group. Upon returning to Boston, Tom co-founded The Akashic Record with organist Beau Sasser. Tom has also worked with Jim Stinnett, Lionel Loueke, Dino Govoni, Fareed Haque, Mike Keneally, Steve Houghton, Steve Smith, Casey Scheuerell and many others.
